As one of the most well-rounded English-medium public high schools in Mbombela, Lowveld High has a proud history of supporting arts and culture development among our learners. We also strive to foster community involvement at every turn.

Lowveld High produces plays and operettas of the highest standard as part of our performing arts programme. This ranges from Gilbert and Sullivan to Seussical. Every second year a powerful rendition of music and dance production The African Explosion is staged. Our choir has also won several awards for their dynamic performances.

Lowveld High is a school that is deeply rooted in, and committed to, its community. We encourage our learners to partake in a range of community activities, so they may become contributing members to Mbombela society. As such our learners have the opportunity to become involved with numerous community out-reach projects each year.

Community activities at our Mbombela public high school include:

The Leo Club: This is a charity organisation that was established in the school by the Lions Club of Nelspruit. We work together with the club, as well as spearheading our own projects. This includes hosting events to raise funds for our projects. We also host an annual orphan’s picnic and contribute to the Santa Shoe box project.
CANSA: Lowveld High CANSA debutants are engaged in raising awareness of cancer and raising funds for cancer research.
GEM/BEM: This is the Girls and Boys Education Movement (GEM/BEM) club in Mpumalanga province. It is a school-based club run by learners with support from school management. Introduced by UNICEF and the Department of Basic Education over a decade ago, the club aim to address issues of violence, academic performance and mitigate risky behaviour amongst adolescents.

These are just a few of the cultural activities and community initiatives we make available to our learners. To learn more about the extracurricular activities offered at our high school in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, feel free to contact us directly.
